The Winter Wonderland Workshops are "drop & shop" events on selected Friday nights and weekend afternoons throughout December. Drop the kids off for a few hours of holiday movies and/or arts and crafts, all in a supervised and safe location, while you go shop, sip, and sup in Nyack!
This is one of the highlights of Nyack Holiday Village, and tickets are only $20. We have limited space, though, so please plan to get your tickets as soon as possible.
Here's what you need to know about the Workshops:
Friday Nights, 6PM-8:30PM
December 13th, and 20th
The Friday night Workshops are at the Creative Arts Workshop ("CAW") at 171 Main Street from 6-8:30PM. CAW is a wonderful space in Nyack that offers arts-based afterschool programs and holiday/summer camps for kids in the Nyack area. Run by Joe Garreffa, CAW has extensive experience and and a staff experienced in working with kids of all ages. The Friday night Workshops will have lots of crafts, games, and pizza!
Weekend Afternoons, Saturday and Sunday 12-4PM
December 14th, 15th, 21st, 22nd
The Saturday and Sunday afternoon Workshops will feature a full-length holiday movie on a big screen, story-time with the Nyack Library, crafts and games, and snacks and organic juice boxes. The remaining December Workshops will be at the Nyack Center, a Nyack institution dedicated to children's programs at 58 Depew on the corner of South Broadway.
Visit from Santa
The weekend afternoon workshops will also feature a visit from Santa from 3-4PM! We've set it up so that parents can get pictures of their kids with Santa when they do pickup, so Santa will only be on site for the last hour of the afternoon events. It's up to the parents if they wish to get a picture. There's no charge for the picture -- you can take as many photos as you wish with your phone.
TICKETS
To reserve a spot, just go to www.nyack.link/ticket
Spaces are limited, so please reserve well in advance. If you need to change your date or cancel, you can do so within 24 hours of the booking. The Workshop costs $25 per child for the full session, and includes movies, crafts, snacks, and drinks.
This is only for children aged 5-12, who know how to use the bathroom.
You can find information on the venues below, along with an FAQ about the events.

Here's the schedule for the remaining Workshops this holiday season.
The venue depends on the date. Friday nights are always at the Creative Arts Workshop, at 171 Main Street just off Franklin. The remaining Saturday and Sunday afternoon events are at the Nyack Center (for December 14, 15, 21, and 22).
All Workshops have experienced staff supervising the events. The Nyack Center provides pre-and after-school care to kids all day long, and it will be members of that same staffing group who will be working at the Workshops. The Creative Arts Workshop will be staffing the Friday night events, and they have enormous experience providing arts-based afterschool programs and camps for kids.
We are going to be providing an array of arts and crafts opportunities for the kids at all the events. For the afternoon events, we will also be playing a holiday movie and providing a story time, in coordination with the Nyack Library.
We will not be providing a "meal," but each event will have snack chips, water, and organic juices boxes, all of which is included in your ticket. We recommend that the kids have a supper before the Friday night events, and have lunch before the weekend events. Take the kids out to a restaurant in Nyack!
We can only take kids who are ages 5-12 and can use the bathroom.
If you wish to accompany your kids to the event, you are welcome to do so. But we do intend the event as a "drop-off" event so you can enjoy some time on your own shopping and dining in Nyack.
We are limiting the Workshops to 60 children on the weekend afternoon events, and 30 at the Friday night events.
Santa will be available for pictures for the last hour of the afternoon event, so you can get pictures when you pick up your kids. We will have an "elf" present to organize a line. There's no charge for the picture -- just go ahead and take as many as you want with your own camera phone. We just ask that we keep the visits with Santa short so that we can keep the line moving?
Santa will be discretely set up in a corner of the room during the last hour of the afternoon events so that parents who wish to get a picture with their kids can do so. If you don't want a picture, you can just bypass the picture area.
We will take walk-ins if we do not sell out the venues for a particular event. We will post announcements in the blog if there are spaces open each week, or if we get cancelations.
Tickets are $20 per child, and you can buy them at www.nyack.link/ticket.
If you can't make your reservations, you can change or cancel them at www.nyack.link/ticket. We will move you to another date if we have the space. If not, we will refund you (minus a 3.5% credit card processing fee) so long as you cancel at least 24 hours before the event.
No, that's just when the event opens. The afternoon events are 12-4PM. The Friday night events are 6PM-830PM. You can drop your kids off anytime within that window, but we do strongly request that you pick them on time.
The Nyack Center is a Nyack institution providing programs, facilities, and opportunities for service that nurture children, teens and families. The Center has an experienced staff providing pre- and after-school programs for young people all year long, and will host the Winter Wonderland Workshops on the weekend afternoons of December 14th-15th and 21st-22nd.
The Angel Nyack is a new performance space in Nyack, located at 18 South Broadway in the First Reformed Church of Nyack. The Angel will be hosting the Winter Wonderland Workshop on Saturday, December 7th, and will be staffed by the great people at the Creative Arts Workshop, who have extensive experience providing programs to kids of all ages.
The Creative Arts Workship (CAW) is a wonderful space in Nyack that offers arts-based afterschool programs and holiday/summer camps for kids in the Nyack area. Run by Joe Garreffa, CAW has extensive experience and and a staff experienced in working with kids of all ages. CAW will be running the Friday night workshop programs throughout December at their space at 171 Main Street.
